Eligibility and personal use

You must be at least 18 years old to use Frostreads. By accepting these terms, you confirm that you meet this requirement and will use Frostreads only for personal, noncommercial purposes.

Do not use Frostreads to provide paid translation services, resell access, or create or distribute translations for commercial purposes. This restriction also applies to content you own or have permission to use.

Your account

Provide an email address you control and keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account. Contact Frostreads if you believe someone has accessed it without permission.

Stories and source access

Only import, upload, translate, export, or share content when you have the necessary rights or another lawful basis to do so. Being able to read or buy a story does not by itself give you permission to translate or distribute it. Rights in the original work remain with its rights holders.

Use only source accounts and content you are authorized to access. Follow the source service's terms, and do not use Frostreads to bypass paywalls, access controls, or content restrictions. Frostreads does not grant rights to content on other services.

Frostreads is not affiliated with or endorsed by source websites unless expressly stated. Compatibility with a source does not mean that the source has authorized importing or translation.

Your content and permissions

Frostreads is an independent translation and reading tool. It stores imported content and translations in your account to provide your library and the features you request.

You keep any rights you hold in content you add to Frostreads. Frostreads does not claim ownership of your stories, edits, or translations, and using Frostreads does not create rights in someone else's work.

You give Frostreads permission to store, copy, process, translate, and display your content as needed to provide the features you use. This includes sending translation inputs to the service providers described in the Privacy notice and displaying saved translations through links you choose to share. This permission is limited to operating the service for you and handling retention described in that notice.

AI translations

Frostreads uses AI to translate text. Output can omit passages, change meaning, invent details, or include offensive material. Review translations before relying on them or sharing them. Frostreads does not guarantee their accuracy, completeness, or suitability for a particular purpose.

Sharing

Create a share link only if you have permission or another lawful basis to share the content. Sharing must also comply with the personal, noncommercial use restriction. Anyone with the link who signs in to Frostreads can read your saved translations without a source-site access check. New translated chapters and saved edits appear automatically.

Share links are unlisted, but readers can forward them or copy the text. Revoking a link stops future access through that link. It cannot remove copies readers have already saved or shared elsewhere.

Acceptable use

Do not use Frostreads to break the law, infringe others' rights, distribute malware, harass others, or expose private information without authorization. Do not access another person's account, interfere with the service, or evade security controls or usage limits.

Usage limits and availability

Frostreads applies account limits and a shared translation budget. Requests may be delayed, declined, or interrupted when limits are reached or a provider is unavailable. Limits, supported sources, models, and features may change.

Frostreads does not promise uninterrupted service or permanent storage. Keep your own copies of work you need. These terms do not limit rights or protections that applicable law does not allow you to waive.

Subscriptions and purchases

A Frostreads subscription (Plus or Listen+) or token pack pays for Frostreads' tools. It does not include subscriptions to source websites or grant licenses to their content.

Payments use Stripe. Review the price, taxes, billing interval, and any trial terms before confirming a purchase. Subscriptions renew monthly until you cancel; token packs are one-time purchases. Paid features start as soon as your payment is confirmed. See Billing & refunds for renewal, cancellation, and refund information. Account deletion does not automatically cancel a subscription.

If you are a consumer in the European Union and the statutory right of withdrawal applies, you can withdraw from a subscription or token pack purchase within 14 days of buying it, without giving a reason. Use the Withdraw from contract form or email support@frostreads.com. Your mandatory consumer rights remain in effect.

Copyright complaints

Authors, publishers, platforms, and other rights holders can raise concerns at winter@snowfall.sh. Use the Copyright complaints page to report infringement or dispute a removal. When Frostreads receives a complete copyright notice, it removes the reported material from the account of the user who stored or shared it, including any share links to it. Frostreads' policy is to terminate accounts of repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances, considering the facts, retractions, and successful disputes. A fixed number of complaints does not automatically establish infringement.

Warranty disclaimer

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Frostreads is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. This includes warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and noninfringement, and warranties arising from a course of dealing or usage of trade.

Frostreads does not warrant that the service or its output will be accurate, complete, secure, free of errors or harmful components, continuously available, or suitable for your needs. Advice or information from Frostreads does not create a warranty. This section does not exclude warranties or other rights that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.

Limits on liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Frostreads will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits or lost data, arising from these terms or your use of or inability to use Frostreads. This applies regardless of the legal theory and even if Frostreads was advised that such loss was possible.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Frostreads' total liability for all claims arising from these terms or the service is limited to the greater of US$100 or the fees you paid to Frostreads during the 12 months before the first event giving rise to the claim.

These exclusions and limits do not apply to fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or any liability that applicable law does not allow to be excluded or limited. Your mandatory consumer rights remain in effect.

Third-party claims caused by your conduct

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify Frostreads for reasonable defense costs, damages finally awarded, and settlements you approve in third-party claims, but only to the extent caused by content you provide or share without the necessary rights or other lawful basis, or by your intentional misuse of Frostreads. You are not responsible under this section for Frostreads' own wrongdoing.

Frostreads will promptly notify you of a claim and provide reasonable cooperation. A delay in notice reduces your responsibility to the extent it harms your ability to respond. You may participate in the defense. Neither party may settle a claim in a way that admits fault or imposes an obligation on the other without that party's consent.

Privacy and ending your use

The Privacy notice explains what Frostreads stores, which providers process it, and how deletion works. You can stop using Frostreads at any time and delete your account under Settings, then Account. Account deletion is permanent.

Frostreads may restrict access, remove content, or suspend or close an account when needed to address violations of these terms, protect the service or its users, or meet legal obligations. You can contact Frostreads about an access restriction or content removal.

Governing law and courts

South Carolina law and applicable United States federal law govern these terms. Disputes will be heard in state or federal courts in South Carolina that have proper jurisdiction. These choices do not deprive you of mandatory consumer protections or prevent you from bringing a claim in a local court when applicable law gives you that right.

Severability and a future operator

If a provision is unenforceable, it will apply only to the extent the law permits, and the remaining provisions will continue in effect.

Winter may transfer this agreement to a successor that takes over Frostreads, with notice to you and only as applicable law permits. Frostreads will request consent where required. A future change of operator does not by itself release Winter from responsibility for earlier conduct or give a future company retroactive liability protection.

Changes and contact

Frostreads may update these terms as the service changes. Updated terms will appear on this page with an effective date. Frostreads will ask you to accept a revised version before you continue using your library. Until you accept, you can sign out or visit account settings to delete your account. Work you already requested may finish, but you cannot submit new work until you accept. Revisions apply prospectively after acceptance.
